Ohio Counties

Ohio has 88 counties, each with its own sheriff's office that maintains police records for the area. The sheriff handles incident reports, crash reports, arrest records, and jail booking data for the unincorporated parts of the county. City police departments keep separate records for incidents within city limits. Under Ohio Revised Code 149.43, all of these agencies must provide public access to their records.
